We’re here to help you choose the right products catered to your needs, your loved ones and your adorable pets. We do this by recommending trustworthy brands through transparency and integrity.

We analyze every company through the information they provide on their websites. We test and review CBD products, using our proprietary review methodology and brand research process to highlight those that meet our extremely high standards.

These include clear, transparent labeling and honest claims and marketing. It should always be simple to learn more about the brand, products, including their complete ingredients.

It's the company's obligation to be straightforward about how much CBD you’re taking and how much THC is in the product.

All of our best CBD brands have clear, easy to navigate websites, good customer service, and make it easy to learn more about their products.

We also try to focus on brands with sustainable, ethical, responsible business practices.

To ensure that providing great CBD products is a brand’s primary goal, we do not work with any companies that don't have third-party testing.

They must also make their lab results readily available to the consumer somewhere on their website.

Each product we feature has been independently selected and reviewed. If you make a purchase using the links included, we may earn commission.

About Our Criteria

3rd Party Lab Tests and Results

Customers should always look for third party lab results on a CBD companies website or request it. Third-party lab tests will test for cannabinoid profiles, potency, pesticides, residual solvents, mycotoxins, heavy metals and biological contaminants.

Extract Type

There are three extract types: full-spectrum, broad-spectrum, and isolate extract. Knowing the difference between the three is crucial.

Full-spectrum extracts carry CBD and THC, as well as a full range of other valuable plant compounds (cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids).

Broad-spectrum extracts contain everything full-spectrum does minus THC.

CBD isolate extracts are highly refined extracts with no other plant compounds but CBD.

It’s important for us to know you’re purchasing the right hemp extract type. Each extract type has its own unique benefits but we generally consider broad-spectrum and full-spectrum the superior choices and isolate if you are worried about failing a drug test.

THC Content

THC content refers to how much THC is present in the product you want to purchase. There are three main categories: THC-free, less than 0.3% THC (<0.3%), and more than 0.3% (>0.3%).

Origin Of Hemp

It’s important for you to know where your hemp comes from. Not all cannabis is sourced from one location. Many US states grow and cultivate it.

Some locations are better than others. California, Oregon, and Colorado are considered to produce the highest grade cannabis.

Optimal weather, sunshine, excellent growing conditions, and strict regulations regarding safety, purity, and quality.

We thoroughly investigate the company’s website to find out where specifically the cannabis comes from.

If it’s imported, that’s a red flag. If no information is publicly available, that’s a red flag also. We believe brands have a responsibility to be transparent here. If they’re not, we’ll let you know.

Price

CBD can be expensive, and there are some good reasons for the high prices. However, we know that getting a good value for your money is also important.

To determine the value, or cost per milligram of a CBD oil, divide the price of the product by the total mg of CBD. For example, a bottle of CBD oil that costs $54 and contains a total of 300 mg of CBD costs $0.18 per mg.

The price of a CBD tincture can vary across brands, but the average cost tends to land somewhere between $0.05 to $0.20 per mg of CBD.

Brand Reputation

It’s essential only to purchase CBD products from reputable, trustworthy brands to feel safe and confident about what is in your gummies.

Reputable brands have their products tested for purity, potency, and other elements to ensure they’re safe and effective.

A brand you can trust should have easy to find information on their website about how they make and test their products, and many will have downloadable lab results so you can see what a third party says about their product and if it backs up what the company claims is in the product.

Customer Service Should Be Readily Available & Responsive

A CBD company should always have a customer service representative ready to take calls and answers basic questions. Customer service should be easy to reach and respond quickly, whether you use email, phone or social media.

So we only focused on brands with helpful and speedy, knowledgeable customer service, and we let you know how you can get in touch.

Verified Customer Reviews

Customer reviews give us great insight into how well the product works. We know CBD works differently for everyone, but we want to include products that tend to work for most people.

All of the products we include in our CBD reviews have at least a 4.4-star rating. Generally, we like to see verified reviews that speak highly about the effectiveness, quality, flavor, and price.

We also want to see customer remarks compliment the company, such as good, friendly customer service or a simple return or exchange experience.

Returns

We check out each brand’s return policy. While some brands only accept unopened products, others offer returns if you are not satisfied with any product, simply return the unused portion of the product within 30 days of purchase.

While some may not even offer a return policy, we stay away from no return policies.

We let you know a bit more about what it will cost to get your CBD delivered to your door. Today, many brands offer free ground shipping within the U.S. or for all orders over a certain amount, or flat rate ground shipping.
